The Astrology of July 2026

The Astrology of July 2026: Fire and Air, Sextiles and Trines

This month, we’re navigating Jupiter newly in Leo as it connects with every outer planet in the “Magic Triangle.” Jupiter in early Leo will act like a magnifying trigger as it makes a trine to Neptune, a sextile to Uranus, and an opposition to Pluto. Chiron, newly in Taurus, is also highlighted as it is squared by Jupiter. Jupiter magnifies what it touches, and it is turning up the volume on the outer planets and Chiron, amplifying the air-and-fire themes that are already dominant in the sky. Air and fire together spark inspiration and nudge us into action. The Jupiter-Neptune trine invites us to reach for our dreams by being more confident in ourselves, while Jupiter’s sextile with Uranus brings an experimental spirit.

At the same time, it will be easy to get carried away with the momentum. For example, we might forget to check in with our bodies (Chiron in Taurus). With Jupiter opposed Pluto and square to Chiron, we will also have to confront the deep fears that come up when we take creative risks or take action toward our big dreams. The advice this month to stay open to opportunity, follow synchronicities, and believe in magic. At the same time, don’t spiritually bypass the discomfort that arises when you attempt to step out of your comfort zone. Focus on confronting the fears and habits that have been holding you back from what you want with honesty and compassion.

Mercury Retrograde in Cancer through July 23rd amplifies the message to slow down and take care of ourselves. Prioritize connection with your closest loved ones as a ballast against the whirlwinds afoot.

I’ll be offering some strategies for working with the heightened fire energy and Jupiter in Leo in my upcoming YouTube live event on Jeffrey Peck’s “Something Super Spiritual” channel (see below).

Final Thoughts

As an astrologer, I’ve been looking ahead to the lineup of July 2026 for a very long time. This rare alignment of Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto will be in play throughout July and the first part of August, featuring three sextile pairs, two overlapping trines, and one potent opposition between Jupiter and Pluto. While trines and sextiles are traditionally called “soft” aspects and oppositions are labeled “hard,” you know from my newsletters and readings that I don't view these as "good" or "bad." Rather, these terms simply describe the flow of energy, helping us understand how best to navigate it.

The most important thing to remember when dealing with an abundance of soft aspects (which is exactly what we have right now) is that we must consciously choose to take advantage of the opportunities they present. There is magic afoot and synchronicities waiting to guide us along our path. The real danger here is falling into the modern siren song of our era: the feeling that everything is just too much to deal with, so we might as well check out. With the soft aspect between Jupiter and Neptune especially, it will be easy to tune out due to oversensitivity and overwhelm. It could easily become a month where we simply float along, only to reach the end and realize "nothing happened." What actually happens this summer will be entirely due to our conscious effort to make it so.

That’s precisely where the Jupiter-Pluto opposition comes in to save the day. This hard aspect will nudge us to confront the fears that have kept us from trusting that our dreams really can come true. It is, in fact, time to dream bigger and double down on our hearts’ desires. But first, we need to address the dragon in the living room (if you'll permit a Plutonian mixed metaphor.) When we are able to clearly see the fears in our own psyche that keep us trapped in comfortable habits, we gain the power to break free.

This breakthrough might look like writing the first words of a poem, even if you feel ridiculous and don’t consider yourself a poet. It might look like finally taking a dance class because you’ve always longed to, but were afraid of looking foolish. What long-held dream or desire have you carried, but never felt you truly deserved? July shows us that our dreams arrive when we believe they are possible, but only after we look head-on at exactly what has been standing in our way.
