The Astrology of September 2026
The Astrology of September 2026: Venus Retrograde Pre-Shadow
This month, we are navigating Chiron’s re-entry into Aries and Uranus stationing retrograde, both occurring against the backdrop of Venus in its pre-retrograde shadow.
The primary focus of this time is healing within our relationships. We are invited to refine the balance between attending to our partnerships and honoring our own personal needs. As Uranus stations retrograde, we are offered a valuable opportunity to reflect on the old patterns and outdated perspectives we have released over the past few months. On that very same day, the New Moon in Virgo provides a grounding window to establish fresh routines and daily schedules that support the healthy habits we are bringing into our lives.

Outer Planets Changing Signs in September 2026
Chiron Re-Enters Aries (9/17)
While Chiron is not an outer planet, its sign changes offer profound meaning that often underscores and clarifies the deeper planetary shifts taking place. With Saturn and Neptune also traveling through Aries, Chiron’s presence in the sign for its final months heightens Aries themes for the collective. Chiron in Aries is about healing our relationship with our own desire. It is time to get to the core of what you truly want and stop apologizing for taking action on your own behalf. Chiron will complete its journey through Aries and move fully into Taurus in April 2027.
Venus Continues Its Pre-Shadow in Libra
Venus Entered Pre-Shadow (8/31):The energy begins to slow down, encouraging us to review our relationships with a focus on intimacy, balance, and authentic connection.
Venus Stations Retrograde in Scorpio (10/3):As Venus backtracks through Scorpio, we are urged to unearth hidden power dynamics, unexpressed vulnerabilities, and old emotional wounds that block genuine intimacy. The journey then shifts into Libra (10/25), the sign Venus naturally rules. Here, the energetic focus transitions from Scorpionic depth to Libran harmony, inviting us to recalibrate the scales of fairness, clear up lingering misunderstandings, and restore mutual respect to our partnerships.
Venus Stations Direct in Libra (11/13): Forward momentum slowly resumes. Pay attention to the insights gained throughout the retrograde period, as they will guide your steps forward.
Venus Retrograde Post-Shadow Ends (12/15):We leave the cycle of review behind as Venus clears its shadow degree and moves forward.
Lunations of September 2026
New Moon in Virgo (9/10)
The New Moon in Virgo is a potent invitation to set intentions and plant seeds for growth around organization, daily schedules, physical wellness, and craft. We are called to begin a practical new cycle focused on structuring our time effectively, establishing supportive habits, and dedicating ourselves to the steady practice needed to refine our skills.
Full Moon in Aries (9/26)
The Full Moon in Aries brings a moment of illumination and culmination regarding self-advocacy, passion, and personal initiative. Emotional matters around how we assert ourselves come to a peak, showing us where we may need to release lingering resentments or adjust the balance between our independent desires and our commitments to others.
Aspects of September 2026
Neptune Sextile Pluto is Exact (9/15)
This alignment highlights the fluid, supportive exchange between Neptune, the archetype of spiritual connection, and Pluto, the agent of deep psychological transformation. While this multi-generational transit has been active in the background since the 1940s, it is nearing the end of its long cycle and will fade out by 2035. The exact peak of this transit, with Neptune in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius, encourages us to take courageous, independent action on the spiritual values we have cultivated. It is time to walk our talk, stepping forward in true alignment with who we are today while letting go of outdated social conditioning or peer expectations.
Final Thoughts
While this month is somewhat quieter than the intense summer months behind us, it remains a vital period to integrate and synthesize everything we experienced in July and August. July’s Mercury retrograde in Cancer and August’s dramatic Leo Solar Eclipse offered intense emotional processing, shifting nodal lessons, and heightened self-reflection. The early part of September is also still integrating the aftershocks of the Pisces Lunar Eclipse square Uranus on August 27th, which stirred up unexpected shifts both personally and globally.
Thankfully, the grounding energy of earthy Virgo arrives just in time to help us steady ourselves after riding through what might have felt like a fiery tornado.
On a personal note, I faced my share of disruptions in July and August. My beloved routines and sense of calm were turned upside down, and my Taurus Moon was feeling thoroughly out of sorts! My intention for September is to get back on track with my daily rhythm, declutter my environment, and take things one focused task at a time. The Virgo New Moon will be the perfect anchor to establish steady routines that restore a sense of peace and order.
