The Astrology of June 2026

The Astrology of June 2026: Chiron enters Taurus, Jupiter enters Leo, and a Mercury pre-Shadow

As we navigate the final stretch of Gemini season, we are being prepared for a significant shift in frequency. With Chiron making a rare entry into Taurus, Jupiter beginning its bold journey through Leo, and Mercury entering its retrograde shadow in Cancer, the focus of the month is a profound realignment of our internal security. June invites us to slow down our mental processing and engage in somatic and intuitive reflection, asking us to bridge the gap between our intellectual curiosity and our deepest emotional needs. Whether we are setting intentions at the Gemini New Moon or grounding our healing under Chiron, this month is an invitation to ensure our outer growth is supported by a foundation of true soulful integrity.

Outer Planets Changing Signs in June 2026

Chiron enters Taurus (6/19/26 - 9/17/26 then re-enters in 2027-2034)

Since 2018, Chiron in Aries has pushed us to heal wounds related to our identity, will, and the right to exist; now, the "Wounded Healer" shifts our focus toward the material and physical foundations of our lives. While Chiron only dips into Taurus for three months in 2026, this brief window provides a vital sneak preview of an eight-year cycle that will redefine our relationship with security.

Taurus governs our sense of worth, our finances, and the somatic experience of living in a physical body. Under this transit, collective and individual insecurities rooted in childhood instability or scarcity may rise to the surface. We are being asked to confront the core belief that we must "earn" the right to be comfortable or safe. Chiron in Taurus reveals that true healing begins with the nervous system; it calls us to move beyond intellectualizing our trauma and into the deep, quiet work of somatic regulation. To navigate this cycle, we must first dismantle the old narratives that tell us peace is a luxury rather than a birthright. By reclaiming a sense of deservingness, we can unlock new, sustainable ways to ground ourselves in our bodies and our surroundings, ultimately transforming our deepest anxieties into a bedrock of unshakeable internal security.

Jupiter enters Leo (6/30/26 - 7/26/27)

Jupiter shifts the collective frequency from the nurturing, protective waters of Cancer into the radiant, heart-centered expression of Leo. This year-long transit invites a massive expansion of our creative confidence, encouraging us to take up space and lead from a place of authentic, unapologetic joy. It is a prime era for "theatre of the soul," where we are supported in reclaiming the playful power of our inner child. On a collective level, expect a resurgence of bold artistic movements and a renewed emphasis on the importance of individual sovereignty and "heart-led" leadership. To make the most of this energy, dare to be seen. Allow your natural brilliance to shine brightly, knowing that your light is exactly what the world needs to feel truly inspired.

Mercury Retrograde in Cancer

  • Mercury Enters Retrograde Shadow (June 12th):The energy begins to slow down, encouraging us to review communication and plans regarding home, family, and our closest emotional bonds.

  • Mercury Stations Retrograde in Cancer (June 29th):This period encourages a look back at ancestral patterns, family dynamics, and the ways you seek internal security. It is a time for "heart-housekeeping" rather than external logic, urging you to slow down and listen to the subtle language of your feelings. By revisiting these roots, you can clear old emotional clutter and ensure your future actions are grounded in a place of true belonging and soulful integrity.

  • Mercury Stations Direct in Cancer (July 23rd): Forward momentum slowly resumes. Pay attention to the insights gained during the retrograde period, as these will guide your steps forward.

  • Mercury Retrograde Post-Shadow Ends (Aug. 6th):We leave the themes of review behind as Mercury fully moves on.

Lunations of June 2026

New Moon in Gemini (June 14th)

The New Moon in Gemini is a potent invitation to set intentions and plant seeds for growth related to communication, learning, and curiosity. We are called to begin a new cycle focused on developing clearer communication in our relationships–as this lunation includes part of Cancer Season and a Mercury Retrograde in Cancer. Hold the intention to listen as well as fto speak clearly.

Full Moon in Capricorn (June 29th)

The Full Moon in Capricorn brings a moment of culmination and illumination regarding our sense of purpose. Emotional issues come to a peak, allowing us to see what needs to be released or integrated concerning our career path and/or the way we are contributing our skills to our community. This Full Moon is also a good time to check in with your commitments of time and energy, and to realign these with your goals, if needed.

Final Thoughts

With my own natal Sun and Mercury in Cancer, the upcoming Mercury Retrograde has definitely given me a moment of pause. I still occasionally worry about being pulled back into unproductive Cancerian patterns, such as family drama (yikes!) But I am endeavoring to approach the pre-shadow period (beginning June 12th) with a spirit of curiosity and openness. Even after 25 years of practice, I still get "spooked" by my own transits sometimes, despite all the evidence I’ve seen that our greatest fears almost never manifest—at least, not in the way we imagine they will.

To navigate this, I’ve developed a strategy for working with the pre-shadow (June 12th – 29th) that you can use regardless of where this retrograde lands in your chart:

  • Observe and Record: Pay close attention to messages, synchronicities, and omens. This includes nighttime dream symbols, "meaningful" coincidences, or chance meetings with people from your past. Reflect on the possible meanings of these occurrences and keep a record in your journal.

  • Formulate Your Question: Identify a specific question you wish to have answered during the actual retrograde (June 29th – July 23rd). Staying aligned with Cancerian themes can be very powerful. You might ask: How can I foster a more harmonious relationship with a specific family member? How can I tune into my intuition more deeply? What does my heart want to tell me that my mind hasn't been hearing?

  • Set Your Intention: Finally, decide how you would like the retrograde to unfold. You might even create a “Mercury Altar”—a small, dedicated space to honor the archetype of Mercury before the retrograde begins. Here, you can make a formal request for insight, the resolution of a problem, or simply the time to rest.

Petitioning for a "smooth" Mercury Retrograde is a practice that dates back to the ancients, who would honor the gods with a candle and a small offering. I have found this ritual to be incredibly effective whenever I feel uneasy about an upcoming transit. It serves as a beautiful reminder that we are co-creating with the planets. Nothing is set in stone; we play our part by setting clear intentions and remaining open to the teachings being sent our way.
