This Friday's New Moon in Libra (5:12 PM PDT) makes strong connections to three other planets. The Sun and Moon are conjunct Jupiter, and square both Pluto and Mars. New seeds can be planted in order to achieve more harmony and balance. That said, the route to do this requires us to confront the roots of the imbalance in order to restore peace. If there is an area of your life in which you have felt stuck, this New Moon and the month following is a time to look at the blocks that keep you from doing what you most want to do. When we remain stuck, we cannot experience the peace, harmony, and flow that Libra has to offer. Our fears (Pluto-Mars) can become very visible at this time precisely so that we can face them down, and move forward.
The New Moon's square to Mars and Pluto in Capricorn can also put pressure on us to take action. It's time to make choices in alignment with our true passions, rather than fence-sitting (shadow side of Libra). A square aspect indicates a feeling of stress or discomfort. We don’t tend to like discomfort, but it is not inherently bad. It just isn't easy. Often we need a well-timed kick in the pants to get us moving. Squares, particularly with Mars involved, indicate the need to act instead of waiting. Libra energy feels challenged by this, as Libra likes to ponder all sides of things, and can find hover in “what-if-land” rather than take decisive action. But the message of this alignment is to move toward what sparks you up, even if it feels risky. With the Mars-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn (building, exact on Oct. 19th) involved in this line-up, there is support toward moving full steam ahead on those projects that may have languished on the sidelines, but which are true passions for you. Perhaps there is something in your life that you've wanted to do for a long, long, time...perhaps you've worked on it here and there, but have gotten distracted. Now, and the whole month of October, is a beneficial time to dust off this old dream, if it is still dear to your heart. Remember that Pluto and Mars both have to do with passion, so the signature feeling of this thing for you is excitement. It is not something that bores you. On the contrary, it will likely scare you. But fear, in fact, is very close to excitement.
We do have some help in doing this. The Sun and Moon are both conjunct Jupiter in early Libra. This also marks a shifting emphasis toward the cardinal signs, which began with the Sun's entry into Libra on the Fall Equinox last week (9/22). Cardinal energy is about beginnings. The seasons begin, for example, when the Sun enters each of the four signs. To step forward and start something can induce fear. In order to combat the fear and keep it from blocking us, we need to take a leap of faith – which Jupiter energy can help us with at this time.
We can find also find help in remembering that the New Moon's placement is in the sign of partnerships. Whatever scary things we may need to confront in order to move forward, we don't have to do it alone. The time from this New Moon to the next (on October 30th) is supportive of making improvements (Jupiter) in existing relationships. Furthermore, this month ahead can be a good time to reach out and set new alliances into motion. We can reach out to others who are on a similar path, and ask for help when we need it. This can also be an opportunity period for connecting with powerful mentors and teachers. Sometimes, we need someone to give us a guiding hand toward the next step.
