I recently had the opportunity, via my master’s work at Marylhurst, to participate in the Graduate Liberal Studies Symposium at Stanford University. I presented a paper which condensed the ideas contained in my thesis (which can also be found on this site). This was a valuable experience, which challenged me to get over my biggest fears of presenting in front of groups (I’m a Cancer with a sensitive, 12th house Taurus moon...go figure.) But it went very well, and while I’m relieved that it’s over, I’d actually do it again.
It helped me to remember two things. One is something I always tell my own students when they are nervous about oral presentations: remember that it’s about the information, not about you. The second was to stay with my intent to clearly deliver information about astrology to an academic audience...a challenge that I’m really enjoying.
My thanks to MAIS department chair Debrah Bokowski for extending this opportunity to us.
Below are some of my pics from Stanford campus, and to the right is the complete audio of the presentation itself in mp3 format, with a question & answer segment at the end.
